Terrain Theory vs. Germ Theory

There was a point in time, over a century ago, that both of these theories went head-to-head.  There was much that took place, but Germ Theory won out in mainstream science.  Germ Theory is the concept that a germ is the cause of infectious disease and our world is set up to combat this accordingly.

Terrain Theory has been lying just beneath the surface for over a century now and takes a different perspective – it is the belief that there are always pathogens present, but depending on the condition of an individual’s terrain – health, constitution, microbiome, etc., that the body will be strong enough to combat and pass the pathogen.  This theory suggests that a weakened body will attract illness, while a strong body can combat/pass illness.

Furthermore, this theory believes that pathogens are actually scavengers, found in nature, designed to actually clean up damaged, putrid tissue, but can propagate if not for a strong terrain.  One example is a garbage can, filled with garbage, will attract flies  – clean up the garbage, and the flies go away.

This theory then suggests that if the body is not up to par (physically, mentally & emotionally), then exposure to a pathogen is not what causes illness, but malfunctioning cells is what is responsible for making your body vulnerable, giving pathogens the ability to destroy weak tissue, thus causing illness.

The bottom-line is that if the terrain is weak or deficient, then opportunistic pathogens would have the ability to wreak havoc.  No matter what happens next with viruses in society, keep this theory in mind.  Keep YOUR terrain clean, clear and strong.

Traditional Naturopathic philosophy believes that disease is due to an accumulation of toxins in the body (toxemia) and cleaning your blood is critical to overall health.  Toxins disrupt our terrain and leave us in a weakened state, so start to become more aware of what you are exposed to daily.  There is no single solution, but instead a paradigm shift is needed in understanding this lost concept, as well as an understanding of Epigenetics – control above the genes.

Be empowered, know you have more control than you think and consider embracing a holistic, reflective lifestyle.  We, along with nature, have been made perfectly through God’s design – we just need to live in alignment with what nature has to offer to achieve balance.
